Welcome to the new Bell County Emergency Management website. Getting information out to the public is essential to our mission and this website is just one more tool in our toolbox to help get the information out to the public in Bell County and help keep you informed and safe during a disaster. This website features many tools that we hope will help you to stay up to date on whats going on in Bell County. Here are just a few things you can find on this website.
- Road Closure and Hazards map – This section allows you to view a custom Google Map that shows where are current problems area’s are in the county. For example if we are currently experiencing flooding and US Highway 25-E in Pineville has to be shut down this map will show a marker on that area indicating a road closure and provide information as to the road closure. This map will also mark shelter locations in the county in the event that shelters are opened up.
- Emergency Notifications – This section will provide information on how to sign up you and your family for text alerts as well as reverse 911 calls. When we have to get information out to the public we will activate these alert systems and issue a phone call and text alerts to those that have signed up. If you currently receive our call alerts or text alerts and no longer want to receive these alerts you can also use this page to remove yourself from that list.
- Calendar – This section will keep you up to date on what we have going on here at Bell County Emergency Management. From time to time we offer training that is open to the public such as Weather Spotter training and Emergency Preparedness workshops. You will be able to see when we have these events schedule and where at so you can attend and be prepared!
- Volunteer – Do you want to help out with your community? This is the place to go. This section will provide you with the information to volunteer to help out your community with one or more of the many wonderful volunteer agencies we have in the county. You will receive top notch training from seasoned instructors and mentors and also provide a valuable service to your community. Volunteer today!
- Up Coming Weather – This section is where you will be able to find information on upcoming weather events that are expected to impact our community. Here we hope provide you with the same data that we use to be able to plan for an event and understand what to expect. Everyone knows that you can log on to Facebook and see many different opinions from “internet weathermen” about upcoming snow events that are often time over inflated. This page will allow you to view the information that we have in front of us so that you know that the information you see is coming from a reputable source.
These are just a few of many features that we are unveiling with our new website. We are constantly looking to improve this site and provide more up to date information to help our citizens be more informed and prepared for an emergency.
